Artist Statement

I have always loved the smell of old paper. As a child I could often be found at the local antique shops, flea market, and garage sales. There you would see me sifting through the many piles of comic books, old newspapers, and general interest magazine of the golden age of American pop culture.

Through these I was introduced to the many great illustrators and designers, both known and unknown, of the last century.

These images have stayed with me through the years, and in conjunction with my discovery of classic movies, pulp literature, the Saturday morning serials and cartoons, have formed a great deal of the ideas and opinions that I have about art and design.

I have been influenced by persons as diverse as Orson Welles, Lou Fine, and Arthur William Brown to Leonardo da Vinci, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Leonetto Cappiello.

It is with these people as guidance that I try to make some sense, on paper, of the world that I see.
